ABOUT CAROL

Carol Ter Haar was born in a small town in western Michigan. She was the only child of parents who were school teachers. Having her creative mother as her teacher for grades kindergarten through fourth in a two room schoolhouse was an everlasting positive experience. Childhood memories explain how long she has loved reading and writing.

After marrying her childhood sweetheart, she moved to Ann Arbor, MI to work and support her husband as he completed his Ph.D. The following years were filled with continuing her education and raising a family.

Then one day her daughter's cat had a litter of kittens under her bed. They could hear the soft purring of the mother cat as she lovingly cared for her babies. She was asked, "What makes a cat purr, mother?" She answered, "Love, Lisa, you are hearing the sound of love." With that statement arose the latent creative desire to write and illustrate The Cat Who Found Her Purr. Her six year old daughter would proudly read the book to her other first grade friends when they came over to play. The book was put aside for many years as they moved around the country. Carol continued her education, completed her Ph.D. and found fulfillment in the world of education. Over the years, The Cat Who found Her Purr would be read time and time again to the delight of her elementary students.

Then after some thirty-five years, Carol felt she wanted to leave a legacy to her four grandchildren. She wanted to share with them the love of animals and the positive power of belonging and home. The Cat Who Found Her Purr enveloped this concept and invites additional reflections from the readers.

The Cat Who Found Her Purr marked the beginning of Carol's calling to author children's books as well as adult reading material. Chris T. Saves the Wetlands followed The Cat Who Found Her Purr. Life Is A Rerun was then written for adults, with a childlike quality to it. Carol is currently working on her next book entitled Joshua G. And The Magic Feather.
